New chiefs revealed at transparency opera

Norwegian Opera, which last week listed everyone who applied for its vacancies, has announced Karl-Heinz Steffens of Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz as its next music director.

He will team up with the British theatre manager Annilese Miskimmon as general director and Ingrid Lorenzen as ballet chief.

    Yes Norman, commiserations instead of congratulations is correct.
    The worst evening I ever spent in the opera was listening to this clarinettist conducting
    The Bartered Bride.

      While I haven’t heard him conduct opera, I will say that I much preferred his playing as principal clarinet of the Berlin Phil than his conducting.

    His Don Giovanni in Moscow with the La Scala forces was not very impressive but the Bolchoi terrible accoustics were also to blame.
