New head of strings at London’s Royal Academy

The Royal Academy of Music has appointed the double-bass player Graham Mitchell as head of its strings department. He succeeds the cellist Jo Cole, who is retiring after 12 years in the post.

The RAM has also named Catrin Finch head of harp.

    There are scores of better more musical harpists in the world than Finch.
