Press release:

Associate Artist is a new role created by the LSO to sit alongside the LSO’s family of conductors.  Associate Artists are musicians with distinct influences, quality and style that add diversity and richness to the LSO, creating their own programmes in collaboration with the Orchestra and contributing to the repertoire choices for other programmes throughout the Season.

    Great choice!

  • Paul Johnson says:

She is a remarkable artist and this is a great coup for the LSO.

  • The woman is a phenom, a very good conductor (and improving all the time) and superb musician. Great choice by the LSO.

I saw her conducting debut in Toronto. Wow! After singing a Nono piece solo, she turns around and conducts the orchestra in a beautifully prepared Haydn symphony. Very impressive debut.

Sometimes I wish that people would have to explain their dislikes on this forum (and others). What on earth is controversial or dislikeable in this comment? If you think that Hannigan is a bad musician, then say it and give a reason for it. A simple dislike is too easy, and perplexing.

Does Norman LeBrecht write anything other than headlines?

    • Kyle says:

Yes, a great deal more in fact. Though I’d say the primary purpose of this site is curating other people’s content. I find that quite valuable. Thanks, Mr. Lebrecht!

A good fit under Sir S.
