A prime example of mediocre or even slightly better than mediocre talent being blown out of proportion because of woke culture. Be honest with yourselves. Why are we even aware of her? Is she anywhere as good as Bernstein, Haitink, Abbado? Not even close. Is she where she’s at because she is a woman? Yes.
Bernstein, Haitink and Abbado are dead. This may be an obstacle to their conducting Janacek in Munich next month.
Leonard Bernstein a “great conductor”? A superb publicist, perhaps. But compared with others of the 20th century ….
Give her a break; she’s not over 40 yet and not in a position to equal those whom you mention.
And why is anybody ‘where he/she is’? There wasn’t any diversity training in the days of those you mention, but there were other highly potent networks of influence at work – I’m betting. It’s just that they were proven to have talent (which I’m not suggesting is missing in the female in question).
