The Teatro Comunale of Bologna has named the Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv as its music director from January 2022.

In Bologna she will be required to conduct two operas and two concerts each season.

She succeeds Michele Mariotti.

  • Concertgebouw79 says:

Good choice. I have chance to have seen her debut in Bayreuth last summer, the good things I read here were right. Bologna has a long history of great names like Celibidache , Gatti and Chailly.

  • Asturias says:

As much as I am not quite always the biggest fan of Scappucci, she was appointed musical director of the Liège Opera a couple years ago… By the way, Lyniv is coming for an interesting production of Suor Angelica and Mese Mariano next January!

  • Beaumont says:

A music director who has to conduct only two operas and two concerts per season – you have got to be kidding me.

  • giampi says:

Teatro Comunale with just one m, that’s italian not french

  • Richard says:

I thought her Holländer was horrid… totally not together, static, unmusical….

  • Gustavo says:

    KEEP

Came here just to say I love her shirt!

Anybody who wears a shirt that says, “Keep calm and play the Wagner Tuba” is alright in my book.

  • Luciano Tanto says:

    …coMunale.

  • San Petronio says:

I have watched many operas at the Comunale over the past decade but how was she chosen as our Music Director if she has never conducted an opera in our theatre before?
