Berlin sees first Vivaldi opera
NewsIl Giustino, the first Vivaldi opera to be staged at Berlin’s Staatsoper Unter den Linden, was received last night with loud cheers. The performance was driven by the Academy for Early Music Berlin and conducted by René Jacobs.
Christophe Dumaux, Kateryna Kasper, Robin Johannsen and Siyabonga Maqungo headed the cast. Jacobs cut a five-hour score to just over three.
