A bassist will conduct Germany’s biggest TV concert
NewsIt has just been announced that Petr Popelka, a doublebass player in the Dresden Staatskapelle until just before the Covid pandemic, will conduct the orchestra in the nation’s ZDF Advent Concert from Dresden’s Frauenkirche.
The soloists will be Lang Lang and Katharina Konradi and the concert will be broadcast on ZDF on 28 November at 18:00 CET.
Popelka was recently named chief conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra in Oslo and of the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Prague.
