Not ashamed to admit that I shed a few tears at this news. And I’m sure I won’t be alone.
You’re not. I was born years after the war, but my parents and every adult I knew had been through it and I was raised on its stories — and songs. I knew of Vera Lynn and her most famous songs from the cradle, so I join those who feel they have lost someone today.
