Dame Sarah Connolly, off-stage for breast cancer treatment since November, will appear Live from Covent Garden on Saturday.

So good to have her back.

Toi-toi!

It’s a socially distanced, small-orchestra live-streamed performance of Das Lied von der Erde.

    Following this [Mahler] will be a performance of “Dance of the Blessed Spirits” from Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice,” featuring principal dancer Vadim Muntagirov doing a solo created in 1978 by Frederick Ashton for Anthony Dowell, former principal and director of The Royal Ballet.

    Her voice and excellent German diction in Schubert’s “An die Musik” should make her ideal for “Das Lied von der Erde”. Break a leg, “Ewig, ewig.”

    I am so happy & relieved that Sarah Connolly is out of the woods & back onstage where we love to see her. Brava for bravery! Brava for art!
