Good news, musically …
Rieus moderations and the communication with the audience are a very important part of his concerts. He is a conferencier on stage. He needs his voice.
He is an untalented fool and caricature of violin. Is best he cancel all his concerts forevermore.
And you are just a little bit “thick”, but then again if one is as talentless as your good self then the abuse of a fellow musician is what is to be expected.
A journalist once wrote Rieu is the “Hansi Hinterseer under the violonists”. I loved him for those true words….
And yet the great Andre Gertler taught him. Who taught you? How many people turn out to watch you play?
Rieu wouldn’t be my first choice for the Brahms concerto, but for Strauss waltzes led from the violin, well, Boskovsky and Maazel are no longer active, who would you suggest is better?

He does do a lot of talking in his concerts. If you have a sore throat of any kind you cannot push a violin against it!

well, if you check out old recordings of Liberace on YT it is obvious that he played on a much higher level than Rieu ever could…

There used to be a genre of music called “light classical” that comprised things like Strauss waltzes, Suppé overtures, operetta excerpts and whatnot. Rieu would have fit comfortably into this once-respected field, which was not seen as an abomination or a threat to “real” classical music.
As Liberaci once said, “you know that bank they always say I’m laughing all the way to? I bought it!”
It’s not for you, so be it. He brings music of a “classical style” to many thousands who enjoy it. I have no problem with that. You have plenty of artists to support who could really, really use the support. Go do so.
I placed him #2 (behind only the Met) for public relations.
He’s excellent at it and for knowing his audience for whom he puts on a good show. He may not be a great violinist but I think he knows that; he’s compensated in other areas.
Let’s hope he has a speedy recovery.
