Nagata to create concert hall for Janacek town
mainThe New York architect Steven Holl, working with Nagata Acoustic, today won the competition to build a 1300-seat concert hall in Ostrava, the eastern town where Leos Janacek died.
Completion is scheduled for 2024.
The money will be provided by the City of Ostrava, by the Czech Republic, and by the Moravian-Silesian Region.
The design looks awful, something from a cheap sci-fi comic strip.
PS:
It has something of Dali about it, a melting TV set.
PS:
Many enthusiastic modernists here on SD…. they have no taste.
Introducing the ability to vote on comments is the best change to this website since I started reading it.
He might have died in Ostrava, but his town was Brno, where he lived his whole adult life. His home in Brno is a fine little museum (and tiny concert hall). The Janacek Theater is a huge, superb institute, having a big Janacek festival. Brno, not Ostrava is Janacek Town.
Please not another circus for music shows, what Toyota mostly is infamous for.
Check out his design for the the Musée des Collectionneurs in Angers. Looks like some bad dental work.

Utterly hilarious…. False teeth created by false aesthetics.

What a puerile, humorless, and ignorant thing to say.
