Good stuff. That’s a knighthood that’s thoroughly deserved.
That’s not Clarence House the message probably came from their press office.
This was announced last June as part of the Queen’s birthday list. Is it normal for there to be a delay of eight months between the announcement and the ceremony?
not abnormal
Yes. it is, especially when the future knight (or dame) is a busy bee. Then it’s sometimes difficult to get his/her dates together with the queen, the Prince of Wales or the Duke of Cambridge (whoever does the honour).
He comes from a musical family. His father, Raymond Keenleyside was second violin in the Aeolian String Quartet for many years and his grandfather on his mother’s side was the distinguished violinist Leonard Hirsch.
So well-deserved Keenlyside’s fame may be, this anachronistic ceremony, performed by a veritable airhead, is one of the fast fading trappings of an irrelevant institution.
Prince Charles may be earnest, and rather middle-brow. And, for sure, isn’t a major intellectual. But he really isn’t an “airhead”.
Oh god another gong to someone simply doing their job from a defunct Empire in a corrupt secret system. My god is there no end to this dead Empire! Love the fact Albert Finney (RIP) told these grubby toadies to stick their tacky OBE and Knighthood. It’s all about “commoners” being aspirational !
John Cameron would have been proud of him.
