I remember riding to Salzburg in March 1988 to hear him sing in Die Schöpfung — is this possible? — only to discover the Brahms Requiem had been substituted because of his illness.
I can’t imagine José Carreras singing the Schöpfung. It must have been something else he was supposed to sing.
