Australia opera chief dies
RIPThe death has been announced of Stephen Phillips, General Director of State Opera South Australia from 1989 to 2011.
An Englishman from Stratford=upon-Avon, Phillips migrated to Australia in 1973 and found work quickly at the Sydney Opera House.
He was responsible for the first Australia-built Ring cycle.
Such sad news. He was a lovely man.
