Beijing dumps local quartet to squeeze in an extra Yuja
NewsThe National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing has just announced a ‘surprising’ extra recital by Yuja Wang on December 16th.
It replaces a long-scheduled performance by the China-based Amber Quartet. Local musicians are unhappy.
The programme is Messiaen, Scriabin, Debussy, Chopin and Beethoven opus 111.
Shame. Any musician who takes away a gig from another deserves at least the third circle in Hell. In Yuja’s case, at least the fifth circle.
Not dumped, postponed to the 19th, based on the news release.
“Local musicians are unhappy” – says who? My understanding was they were asked if they would be happy to move date, agreed without hesitation, and are being compensated for the disruption… so is this a lie?
