We have been reporting in recent weeks a drift of serious artists away from AskonasHolt, some complaining that the agency has lost focus since it hooked up at a subsidisary of the San Francisco Conservatory on the other side of the world.

The latest talent to defect is Dinis Sousa, principal conductor of the Royal Northern Sinfonia and the young man who saved a tour of Berlioz’s Les Troyens this summer after John Eliot Gardiner’s unfortunate incident with his fists. Sousa has moved to Kathryn Enticott’s boutique agency, with backup from IMG. He is the kind of promising artist any agency would fight to keep.

Askonas, in a fairly intense recruitment drive, have signed the pianists Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy and the American mezzo-soprano Shannon Keegan.

From the headline alone one might believe that he left MCO. Now that is something that might be newsworthy, though not a big surprise.
