The pop sensation has been splashing her cash.

She has given $50,000 to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute which ‘protects and defends the human rights of Black transgender people’ and the same amount to Sphinx, which advances Black classical musicians.

  • Skeptic says:

Marsha P. Johnson was a schizophrenic, semi-violent drug addict who had little to do with any genuine activism and who by her own admission was nowhere near Stonewall during the now-much-mythologized “riot” which has provided such excellent fodder for propagandists. The exploitation of this and other similar people, who had challenges enough of their own, by those trying to rescript the history of gay rights as all about the T, deserves no support whatsoever, even by house-sized opportunists such as “Lizzo”.

    • Eazy-W says:

I can ALWAYS count on this comment section to exhibit the worst racists this industry has lurking under its rocks. Thanks for not letting me down.

And I suspect that those who refer to other *human beings* as “house-sized” is likely projecting.

      • Alphonse says:

Well aren’t you just a paragon of virtue and moral uprightness, Eazy! Please lecture us lowly peons from on high!

        • Eazy-E says:

You can read the comment I was responding to. Calling that out isn’t “virtue signaling,” it’s called “the bare minimum to not be a jerk.”

Or do you think attacks on weight are high-brow?

          • Paul Joschak says:

If someone is evidently morbidly obese, pointing it out is not an ‘attack’, rather a statement of the bleeding obvious…

          • Proof2 says:

Why point it out? Do you think she doesn’t know? GASP! How is it relevant????
Do you think it stops her working effing hard every bloody day? Nope.

      • D.Sawyer says:

How the heck would you know they are the worst racists? Have you interviewed the whole music industry?

        • Eazy-E says:

Fair enough, I have seen FAR worse racism spoken openly backstage at ROPA and ICSOM orchestras. This is still bad, though. You can put the deflector shields down already.

      • Matias says:

Extreme self-righteousness is a bigger problem on these pages.

And where’s the reference to race, anyway?

      • Stiff Upper says:

        Trying to keep things positive…..
That’s a generous donation, and hopefully it will do some good.
I do enjoy “House” and though i fail to see the relevance here, Hugh Lawrie is a talented actor and his music is enjoyable to hear.

      • Eric says:

        Facts aren’t racist.

    • True22 says:

Good for Lizzo. I’m proud of her and her generosity. Please let people be who they are. Please stop shaming people for being fat. Hold yourself to a higher standard of decency or hold your tongue. Life is hard enough without you making it worse. Just stop or go away.

    • Hugo Preuß says:

Yes, absolutely. And how dare she put her money where her mouth is and donate 50.000 of her own money! Most people would call this generosity. Thanks for deconstructing it as opportunism, and thanks for generally uplifting the humanitarian tone and spirit around here. /snark off

  • Annoyed says:

    Seems petty & racist….
If you’re gonna give, give to all or no one..
