A really good orchestra that deserves a truly great symphony hall. I believe Mr. Rattle wanted to make that happen, but alas . . . (and yes, I know – Rattle was with the L.S.O.).
Well, if that’s the most significant thing you can find to say then maybe you should just say nothing.
If you’re directing your comment towards me, I don’t know this horn player. I’m sure she’s wonderful, or she wouldn’t have landed the job. “Congratulations” to Ms. Federle! If you or anyone are objecting to my description of the L.P.O. as being a “very good’ orchestra, I’m happy to up that description to ‘excellent’ orchestra. I don’t have a problem saying either.
It’s a superb Orchestra, and on great form.
. . . but in my opinion, still in need of a better symphony hall, as their own ‘in-house’ recordings can attest too (the playing is fine).
