The Elbphilharmonie has called off a Bach B-minor Mass in April with Teodor Currentzis and MusicAeterna orchestra and chorus.

The concert hall says: ‘As the organisation of concerts with the St. Petersburg-based ensembles is currently fraught with too many uncertainties due to the effects of the Russian war on Ukraine, this concert cannot take place as planned and must be cancelled. The ticket price will be refunded.’

Currentzis and MusicAeterna are funded by sorces that are loyal to the Kremlin.

    Music wins.

  • Serge says:

This is how a dictatorship works. You have to be loyal to the regime. Tell me one, big Russian or Russian based company who is critical to the regime. That company doesn’t exist.

      Yes they bloody well do!

There are a lot of people in Russia who have either left or are fighting a rearguard action against this regime of cannibals.

Most of Russia’s IT teams have left, they don’t agree with the war, and many operate out of Georgia and Armenia.
The pen is mightier than the sword.

      • Serge says:

I should have underlined that I meant companies still in Russia. Are there any big companies still in Russia who still are opposing the regime and the war, and getting away with it?

      • Robert Holmén says:

The portion of people who have left Russia is trivial, not enough to hobble Russia beyond whatever its normal state of enhobblement is.

Whatever statement the leavers intended, it isn’t dissuading the regime from anything.

  • Vovka Ashkenazy says:

What are these “sorces” that loyal to the Kremlin?

  • Anthony Sayer says:

Is this going to plague Currentzis until the end of his days? Has no-one else ever made an error of judgement?
