The company’s website has been down all day.

Russian hackers, perhaps.

Here’s what it says:

Tonight’s performance will go on as scheduled. However we are currently experiencing network issues that are impacting our website, box office and call center. Rush tickets will not be made available for this evening’s performance. Thank you for your patience.

Down for two days now. Odd.

  • Christopher Stager says:

First Taylor Swift, and now this.

  • Tiredofitall says:

Unfortunate, but why immediately play the Russia card? Why not Harry and Meghan?

    • MWnyc says:

Maybe because Harry and Meghan have absolutely no history of hacking websites, while hackers based in Russia have a very long record of doing exactly that?

      • Tiredofitall says:

Wow, did that one go over your head…

      • Tom Phillips says:

And because Gelb and his wife have been so outspoken re: Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine and of firing Putinite “artists”/agents such as Mrs. and Mr. Netrebko.

        • Tiredofitall says:

I completely condemn Russian for its actions in Ukraine, but I also don’t support unsubstantiated claims of guilt. Let’s deal in facts, not conspiracy theories. Rumors have a bad habit of becoming facts in the minds of susceptible people.

    Musikverein.at was down too today

    Updated message:

“The Met has experienced a cyberattack that has temporarily impacted our network systems, which include our website, box office, and call center. All performances will take place as scheduled; however, at this time we are unable to process new ticket orders or facilitate exchanges and refunds. Once normal operations have resumed, we will honor all refunds and exchanges that we have been unable to process during this period.
We are working as quickly as possible to get this difficult situation resolved. Updates will be posted on metopera.org as they become available.
For further assistance, please email metropolitanopera@metopera.org, and we will respond to you once our systems have been restored.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.“

Social media report that a ransom was paid, and that standing room—virtually eliminated since March 2020–will be sold for tonight’s performance of The Hours.
