Just in: Chicago cellist wins MacArthur ‘genius’ grant

The jazz cellist and composer Tomeka Reid is this year’s musical winner of a MacArthur Fellowship.

It’s worth a life-changing $625,000.

Reid, 45, is Darius Milhaud Distinguished Visiting Professor at Mills College.

    So lame. Totally pathetic. Sucks biiiiig time, both as a “cellist” and improviser. There are SO many talented artists out there – but somehow she got it. What’s the criteria? Actually, is there ANY…? 😉
