Minnesota’s maestro just got married
NewsA week after being appointed music director of the Minnesota Orchestra, the Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård has announced a different kind of happiness.
Got married two weeks ago! Still on cloud 9….. pic.twitter.com/hzTsDQuOm8

The couple’s kilts were presumably acquired at the maestro’s other position, with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
Congratulations, you are courageous.
Courageous for getting married? Hardly. Get with the times man!
But in the US?
I believe the wedding happened in or near Copenhagen, the couple’s home.
But — for now — they should be fine in the US overall and in the Twin Cities: their marriage is legally recognized, and Minnesota probably wouldn’t repeal marriage equality if the Supreme Court made that possible.
Good luck to them, they are certainly not out of kilter.
och aye the knees…every happiness to them

Wonderful picture of two deeply happy people . Splendid kilts too!
Congratulations to Maestro Sondergard!! I look forward to hearing him in concert in the future. Someone whose opinion I respect told me he flies below the radar but is a major talent.
Er, no flies on him, he’s wearing a kilt.
“Flies beneath the radar” is hitting below the belt…
What are they carrying in their sporrans?
Wedding cake?
Haggis?
A wee dram?
Of what?
Their underwear, just in case the wind blows up…
He didn’t announce his wedding until two weeks afterward? Like it slipped his mind?
What is that about?
I presume formal announcements were for friends and family, but he didn’t exactly keep it secret. He mentioned in the big article in The Star Tribune (Minneapolis-St.Paul) that he had just gotten married, though it wasn’t clear that it had been only a week before.
Not everything in life is for immediate release.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! You and your husband are just what Minnesota and this country needs!
I don’t quite understand your comment as I always thought the Mpls/StPaul area to be very progressive. I’m hoping all the people that have been frightened off by Covid come back in droves and support the musician’s and hopefully superior programming.
It ain’t covid keeping them from going downtown honey…
