An absolute shame. His Leipzig Ballo is thrilling.
He’s a great conductor. I can see him going elsewhere.
The dictionary gives two noun definitions for ‘indisposition’: (i) a mild illness, and (ii) a lack of enthusiasm or inclination; a reluctance. I wonder which is meant here? (‘Recovering at home’ could suggest Maestro Chailly is doing all he can to muster an iota of interest!) A useful verbal construction that could be employed by managements worldwide to avoid awkwardness in many situations (e.g. ‘a Tristan indisposition’).
It also killed Karajan. Worse than Macbeth.
The greatest living Italian conductor, by a thousand miles. Or, better said, the only great living Italian conductor.
Get well soon, Maestro!
Apart from Muti!
the finest italian conductor active today is, in my opinion, fabio luisi; the last great italian conductor was mario rossi
Some deserve the Lightfoot administration.
Muti fans totally deserve it.
NYC could use him badly.
