Message from the 25th Heidelberger Frühling festival:

Unfortunately Thomas Hampson, who is suffering from long-term Covid effects, has to cancel his full-length song recital at the festival. His piano partner Elena Bashkirova cannot perform either as she is helping her husband, Daniel Barenboim, who is unwell. At short notice, the bass singer Günther Groissböck and his accompanist Alexandra Goloubitskaia were persuaded to organize a recital.

It appears they caught Günther on a beach holiday.

Was he not a vaccine opponent?

    • mila says:

He was hiding his first vaccination.

    • Alex says:

he was and is. he continues spreading conspiracy theories and calls brainwashed those who supported anti covid measures. Now he has switched to the new topic (as all conspiracy theorists, at least, in German speaking countries) – the war in Ukraine and the “one dimensional” reporting by western media… He was in Moscow in March and felt very free there.

    • May says:

He is a proponent of the right to individually make one’s own health decisions as well as being one of the best bassists around right now.

  • Anthony Sayer says:

Maybe Günther is doing his Putin impression. He’s a great bloke, by the way; very funny and intelligent.

Günther, du bist so peinlich klein.
Dein Foto, Dein Instagram, alles unwürdig.
    Was stimmt mit Dir nicht?
Du bist doch eigentlich ein netter Kerl.
Du hast eine passable Stimme, die Dir Erfolg bringt.
Arbeite doch besser an Deinen Komplexen statt an Deinen Muskeln.

    He’s a HUNK!

  • Sfirida says:

Ah the Covidiot in charge…oh the irony of getting this gig.
