The wife of Vaclav Macha, pianist of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, has announced his death at the age of 43.
No cause is yet known.
He performed with various orchestras, including the BBC Symphony at the 2009 Proms.

What dreadfully sad news. I remember him from his time here in Hanover about 20 years ago. I did not know him personally very well but clearly recall his very beautiful, refined and technically superb playing; it was no surprise to hear that he had previously studied with the great Moravec. Prague has lost a very fine pianist indeed. My condolences to his family.
