NewsIt seems that Miguel Esteban is dealing with requests for the Russian soprano after she was dropped this weekend by Universal-owned Centre Stage Arts Management.
Esteban is a co-founder with Martin Engstroem of the Verbier Festival in Switzerland and its offshoots in Latvia and Georgia.
His friendship with Netrebko goes back to when he was working with her a decade ago at Universal Music.
He can now start packing for Moscow or Siberia, perhaps also packing Netrebko’s bags together with his…
Netrebko is OUT of Europe and America for ever and an open Putin supporter should never be welcomed again here. Even more so as she has said that we, Western people, are “human shits”. Shameful is an understatement.

Netrebko loves first the money of the west, ( why does she live in Austria and the US ?) but also Russian manipulations and connections which bring her a few millions a year! Verbier Festival was little more than an alpine branch of VTB Bank with cultural pretensions.
In some ways MTE is a kind of one man Arthur Andersen LLP but specialising in turning funny money into respectable musical benevolence.
Even though Alberto Vilar similarly always used someone else’s moolah, at least he was content with the kudos of highly publicised naming rights.
Engstroem not only enabled undesirable Russian criminals to dispose of their ill-gotten gains, he provided the added éclat of social and cultural respectability.
Of the two, I prefer Don Vilar any day.

But I cannot, without reaction, let you describe the “Verbier Festival & Academy” as an “alpine branch of VTB Bank with cultural pretensions”.
This is totally untrue, and unfairly written.
You may possess first-hand informations, me, we, only second-hand ones, or none at all; a certain crude inelegance still remains.
