Tomorrow, on the second anniversary of his death, the ashes of the composer Krzysztof Penderecki will be borne through his home town Krakow in a rare state funeral.

The last time this honour was granted to a composer in Krakow was 85 years ago, for Karol Szymanowski. Both died on the same date.

Penderecki will be laid to rest in the new National Pantheon, un the Church of St. Peter and St Pauł at ul. Grodzka in Krakow.

His original funeral was a private affair, constricted by the first Covid lockdown.
