Just in: Grammys are scrapped due to Covid
NewsVariety has been told that this year’s Grammy Awards have been postponed due to coronavirus issues. No new date has been confirmed.
The awardswere due to take place on January 31 at the former Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
Their suspension delivers a major blow to music industry publicity.

grim prospects
When it comes to classical (or jazz, gospel, etc.) it would make no difference if they were just to announce the winners via social media and call it a day. The televised ceremony is publicity only for the pop industry.
Think I will write a song about it:
As I was walking down the street one day
A man came up to me and asked me what day the Grammy’s are, yeah
And I said
Does anybody really know what what day it is (I don’t)
Does anybody really care (care about day)
If so I can’t imagine why (no, no)
We’ve all got time enough to cry
And yet sporting events (indoor and outdoor) with much greater attendance continue on. Where’s the logic?
