The death has been reported of the French-resident Polish composer Joanna Bruzdowicz, a visible figure in western culture.

Warsaw born, she studied with Nadia Boulanger and Olivier Messiaen and wrote soundtracks for Agnès Varda.

With her Eurocrat Brussels husband Horst-Jürgen Tittel, she wrote a 36-part German TV series Stahlkammer Zürich.

She also composed several operas and numerous orchestral and instrumental works.
