After the LSO’s stressed-out residency in Aix-en-Provence, the Philharmonia has secured Covid-test sponsorship to play in the Enescu Festival in Bucharest.

The players have been given superfast LampWorX tests by Circular1 Health, a process that offers 99.995% specificity in a matter of minutes.

It’s not impossible.

The LSO have just returned from Bucharest after performaces at the Enescu festival with Rattle. Believe further tours these coming weeks to Hamburg, Berlin, Amsterdam etc. Look at the websites. London orchestras returning to normal life!

    elaborate on LSO’s “stressed-out” residency in Aix-en-Provence

  • IC225 says:

Probably also helps that Romania is currently placing no C-19-related travel entry restrictions on travellers from the UK.

  • Orchestral Player says:

Actually the LSO residency in Aix en Provence was anything but stressed- out. The LSO also returned from Bucharest Festival 2 days ago. And the LSO is going on several other European tours in September, October and December. I don’t know what you are trying to insinuate but I would have thought one should rejoice at the fact that orchestras are going back on tour. Indeed the Philharmonia too and the LPO !

  • Don Ciccio says:

I just looked at the Enescu Festival program, and it seems that all four major London orchestras are scheduled: the LSO (which just returned), the LPO, the RPO, and the Philharmonia, which is the subject of this post.

I also see the London Mozart Players scheduled.

After Brexit I was led to believe that no British orchestra or musician would play in Europe again. Ever.
    How has this not happened?

    • Orchestral Player says:

Luckily it is not the case so far. But transportation of instruments to the EU is very difficult now because of the very limited number of Cities (2) we can visit in 1 tour. Also very complex carnets are required (which were not required before) and the cost of actual transportation has doubled, added to the obtention of work visas (not waived by all EU countries).
So yes UK musicians can still tour the EU but it has been made much much harder.
Another own goal by this country.
Brexit …. The gift that keeps on giving …

  • Orchestral Player says:

And another thing : referring to your headline ….the UK was always and still IS in Europe
    Surely you meant the EU

  • Miko says:

    “It’s not impossible”.

No…but it’s complicated, bureaucratic, restrictive and much more expensive.

    Brexit: A win for stupidity.
