Jansen, rather than Jansens, surely.
I recall the first time I saw her, although I forget (senility, alas) what she played. It was with the Cleveland Orchestra in the mid-noughties. She stepped on stage, looking spectacularly beautiful in a slinky gown and I thought “Oh, dear! Trading off her looks rather than her talent.”
I changed my mind the moment she started playing. She was magnificent.
She seems to be the complete package: beautiful, intelligent and talented. And more recently a mother. What’s not to love?
I believe it is ‘Jansen’.
please refrain from bothering Norman Lebrecht with facts and details.
Yes she is a wonderful player, one of only a handfull that can play Britten’s concerto properly.Perhap’s it is a little too difficult for the rest.
