Power couple deliver stunner in Espana
NewsFrom a friend in a Spanish orchestra:
We have Elim Chan, 2014 Flick Competition winner, guesting with us now. She’s brought her fiance, the innovative Dutch percussionist Dominique Vleeshouwers as soloist on James MacMillan’s 2nd percussion concerto, performing the piece’s Spanish premiere.
They are electric together musically & the cutest couple you could imagine. They learned each other’s languages. She speaks fluent Dutch, he is vlogging about percussion in fluent Chinese. She’s brilliant & has impressed our orch & audiences completely with her magniificent Shostakovich 10 interpretation. Is this classical music’s new power couple? They’re certainly a couple to watch!
It warms the cockles of this old drummer’s heart.
Taking Fremdschämen to a new level…
I’m just towelling myself off after that gush.
Does this Spanish orchestra have a name?
It is the orchestra Sinfonica de Castilla y Léon playing three concerts in Valladolid, Spain.
Elim Chan conducts with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. She will be conducting in Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Kurhaus Wiebaden in August. Later in the year she will be in Cologne.
