Jonas Kaufmann goes after the Texas dollarNews
The German tenor has announced his Texas debut:
Houston Grand Opera is proud to announce An Evening with Jonas Kaufmann, a special, one-night event with international tenor Jonas Kaufmann on October 6, 2021, at the Wortham Theater Center. Kaufmann’s highly anticipated HGO debut, and first-ever Houston performance, is the chance of a lifetime for opera lovers.
Following the concert, an intimate and elegant dinner will take place at the newly renovated Four Seasons Houston. Table underwriter packages range from $10,000 to $50,000; while individual tickets for the concert and dinner range from $1,000 to $5,000.
He has to think of his pension. Bless him.
I’d rather see that money go to Houston Grand Opera than to Texas politics.
Don’t HGO stand to profit from it as promoters/risk-takers? Genuinely wondering what you mean by ‘Texas politics’.
That’s easy; the ‘lumpen prols’ and knuckle draggers who voted for Trump!! Don’t you love it when social superiority means you get to feel big by making others feel small. Condescension worthy of the British aristocracy. And the Bosheviks turned it into an art form!!
Based on your usual comments, the last person who should criticize people for “making others feel small” is you.
Funny how fans of the big orange fool get so sensitive when they get the “orange” treatment.
Gelb must be mortified that he is appearing at HGO next year but is not scheduled to sing at the MET!
Gelb does not care about Kaufmann – everybody knows that the Gelb’s choice of star tenor is Mr Eyvazov.
And somebody was making fun of Chinese names!!!!!!!
Gelb seems to like very much to run the Metopera without opera performances…just streamings….easier to run such an opera house…so why would he mind that Kaufmann sings in Houston
It’s a one-night gig for presumably a decent fee. Very different proposition than an extended run of Tristan or such.
Or perhaps Mr Gelb will remember Sir Rudolf Bing’s chagrin when it was ‘Dallas for Callas’?
Good for him. He must have lost vast amounts of fee income in the last 18 months. Presumably he will be remunerated significantly and there will also be funds raised for the organisation.
He may well get all the money back in one swoop.
Dislike the voice, but good for him? This is disgusting, money and the arts….god bless the Houston opera company
Can’t stand his voice, but good for him? Its disgusting, money and the arts….god bless the HGO
Good for him. He’s not the first and won’t be the last. Anything more newsworthy happening?
More $s than sense.
Intimate and elegant whoring around.
Jealousy thy name is WOKE.
Bravo Maestro Kauffman. Brilliant tenor and musician. I hope to arrange to attend.
wer ewig strebend………………
Child support doesn’t pay for itself.
What will be next? Will he be singing “money makes the world go round”? I cannot imagine a tackier spectacle , singing and dining and overpaying for it. Nothing certainly is above, or below Kaufmann. Shame.
re pug nant…….
Thanks for the information I’m gonna buy a ticket immediately.
There has to be a way of recouping financial losses post lockdowns. Good on Jonas; easy on the eye too!!
