Stockholm is magnet for idle maestros
mainFirst Mirga, now Andris Nelsons is conducting the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic in a concert to be livestreamed tomorrow.
With German houses shut down by Covid and America inhospitable, low-fee Sweden suddenly looks like an option.
Nelsons will conduct the Weinberg trumpet concerto and Dvorak’s 6th symphony.
Low fee?
After you pay the taxes here you will not have more than a low fee.
🙂
They closed the opera house at the end of last week, I suspect this act will close in short order.
With all due respect, you have really no idea what you are talking about.
Well, at this point it would seem to be a buyer’s market, but one is not exactly slumming it with a gig in Stockholm. Seriously, the Nordic/Scandinavian orchestras are generally outstanding, and don’t get enough credit.
Nelsons spent all of January and all of March conducting Boston (seen in this photo); he’s hardly “idle”.
