First Mirga, now Andris Nelsons is conducting the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic in a concert to be livestreamed tomorrow.

With German houses shut down by Covid and America inhospitable, low-fee  Sweden suddenly looks like an option.

Nelsons will conduct the Weinberg trumpet concerto and Dvorak’s 6th symphony.

    Low fee?

  • Save the MET says:

They closed the opera house at the end of last week, I suspect this act will close in short order.

  • MacroV says:

Well, at this point it would seem to be a buyer’s market, but one is not exactly slumming it with a gig in Stockholm. Seriously, the Nordic/Scandinavian orchestras are generally outstanding, and don’t get enough credit.

  • Massachusetts says:

Nelsons spent all of January and all of March conducting Boston (seen in this photo); he’s hardly “idle”.
