Mourning for international piano teacher
mainThe death has been announced of Nelita True, the sensitive and sought-after professor of piano at the Eastman School, Interlochen and worldwide.
After making her debut at 17 with the Chicago Symphony, she toured all 50 states of America and was professor in both Russia and China.
She was married to the Portuguese pianist Fernando Laires, who died in 2016. They are survived by three daughters.
Nelita was a wonderful artist, a great teacher and a beautiful human being with a generous, caring soul. A fantastic pianist, some of her wonderful performances, Stravinsky Tango, or Schubert duets with her husband Fernando, are available to listen on YouTube. Music making of the highest order. Every time someone of this stature and quality passes away, the whole world is poorer. Nelita True will be missed and should not be forgotten!
Juilliard, MSM, Eastman… all great music schools in NYC. Which one is best for opera?
Eastman is in Rochester, NY, about 330 miles (550 km) from New York City.
(a) off topic
(b) Eastman is not in NYC
Eastman is not in NYC, but in Rochester, New York.
Eastman is not in NYC, it is far north and west across the state in Rochester on Lake Ontario.
(Juilliard would be best for opera in terms of making connections. As far as actual learning goes, finding the right teacher for >>you<< is a crap-shoot no matter what school you are at.)
Eastman is not in NYC.
Maybe Lady Gaga would be appropriate given his “artistic” selections for his coronation.
