The irrepressible Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla will make her debut with the Basel Symphony Orchestra tomorrow in a streamed concert.

She’s replacing Sir Mark Elder who is unable to leave Covid-lockdown England.

  • CarlD says:

Talk about a love fest: Mirga gets praised when she cancels concerts for family reasons and dubbed “irrepressible” when she agrees to a sub gig. Sheesh …

  • V.Lind says:

    Where was she?

  • JS says:

I wonder how many uplifting adjectivess of the english language remain to be unused to praise Mirga in this blog… Better vocabulary source than Shakespeare for those still improving their english

  • You mean nobody is going to blame Brexit for this.

    • pfff says:

I am afraid British musicians are not going to perform in a long while in the EU. Take responsibility for your wrong doing for ONCE!

Apparently the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra’s music director Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla will move to the role of principal guest conductor from summer 2022, BBC Music Magazine reports.
