The tenor will sing three Rodolfos in Munich on November 22, 27, and December 9.

He sang the role first in 2004 in Stuttgart and last in Zurich in 2011.

But I guess it’s what’s available right now.

Rachel Willis-Sørensen sing Mimi. Bertrand de Billy conducts.

    Guessing Jose Cura?

  • againstbigotry says:

He also sang it in 2012 in Salzburg when he jumped in for an ailing Beczala. Beczala acted, while Jonas sang.

  • John says:

In 2012 Kaufmann jumped in for an indisposed Beczala in Salzburg.
If memory serves me right, due to limited rehearsal time, Kaufmann sang from the side of the stage when Beczala acted the role.

Can we please get anything else than Kaufmann or Netrebko…?
    Pleeeeeeaaaaseeeeeeee

    • david hilton says:

Sure, if you’re a Rachel Willis-Sørensen fan, your wish is granted: she’s cropping up all over the place, including replacing Netrebko in Barcelona’s “Trovatore” this month.

    • Doofus1714 says:

No, sorry, only Netrobko, Kaufmann and Domingo here on Mr. Lebrecht’s petty blog.

  • David G says:

Well, why not?! Kaufmann will probably be very good. Domingo sang Boheme at the Met with Freni in September 1990, long after he began singing all the dramatic roles, and he received very good notices.

  • Hana says:

“Available right now” – do we think Dr K is short of gigs, or cash, or choice? I doubt it. This sounds like seasonal fun and I wish him well.

However, I’m also wondering right now whether or not the date clashes mean a ‘no’ to the Opera National de Paris concert performances of Die Walküre as part of their Ring cycle, what with ONP trumpeting Kaufmann as taking part. That, and Boheme in between, makes for quite a schedule, unless quarantine exemptions apply…

  • He sang it last time in Zurich right, but it was in 2007. In 2012 he sang the part in Salzburg from behind the curtains, when Beczala got sick.
