Just in: Italy extends opera ban for an extra week
mainMessage from La Scala:
To halt the diffusion of Coronavirus, the Prime Minister has decreed the suspension of any events and initiatives and of any meeting in public places, including cultural ones, until Sunday 8 March.
In compliance with these provisions, all public performances and events at La Scala until 8 March are cancelled.
The box-office of the Theater is closed until 3 March.
The same applies to all opera houses in northern Italy.
UPDATE: At La Scala, the premiere of Chailly/Michieletto production has been shifted to the second performance date on the 11th.
Sounds like it’s more than just an opera ban, but rather, any event in public places.
A week? This will be bouncing around for months.
