Major UK singing award is abolished
mainThe Susan Chilcott Scholarship for British opera singers, founded in 2005 in memory of a brilliant soprano who died at 40 of cancer, has delivered its final £10,000 prize before the fund is wound up.
The last recipient, announced today, is the soprano Gemma Summerfield.
Hardly ‘abolished’….its being wound up as the funds have been used.
‘Abolished’ is a poor description and part of yet another over-dramatic SD headline.
They probably just ran out of cash.
Norman, you’re losing credibility with such melodramatic titles.
How could Norman be losing credibility when he’s already infamous for being a provocateur. We all keep returning, don’t we?
She looks like Alice Coote’s twin sister in that picture.
Why not just say “banned”?
