Ex-Philharmonia player dies of brain tumour at 68
mainSon of a leader of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Peter Mountain, and a concert pianist, Angela Dale, Paul Mountain started out as a violinist in the Philharmonia in the golden-era 1970s.
A move to Leeds made him into a chamber musician until disabilities from a fall converted him into a passionate educationalist.
Obit here.
Its forty years since I knew Paul, but remember him with affection – he was one of the good guys. My condolences, particularly to his sister Jeanette.
Paul was a great friend. Always loved life. Fine player and a loss to us all
