Maestro waltz: US veteran lands Polish orchestra
mainLawrence Foster, 76, has been named artistic director and principal conductor of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, starting September 2019.
He succeeds the German conductor Alexander Liebreich.
Foster has been working lately in Marseille, France.
Foster is a superb, underrated conductor! Singers love him and he seems to know how to treat the musicians he deals with in order to get the best results!! I have always been impressed whenever I have been lucky enough to have been present when he is in charge! Lucky Poles!
No he isn’t, they don’t and he doesn’t know. Personally I find him creepy.
Well, that’s this comments thread closed already.
Instead of “Maestro Waltz: US Veteran Lands Polish Orchestra”, didn’t you want to use a headline starting with “Polish Regression…”, or does the regression start at age 77?

But to be fair Foster is an very accomplished conductor continually creating great music as opposed to uknowwho..
Katowice is a great orchestra so this sounds like an exciting combination, I wish them luck.
Apparently the regression starts at 78 (conductor’s age at the time of the announcement).
Marek Janowski’s appointment at the Dresden Philharmonic did “not look like a progressive decision.”
