Lawrence Foster, 76, has been named artistic director and principal conductor of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, starting September 2019.

He succeeds the German conductor Alexander Liebreich.

Foster has been working lately in Marseille, France.

  • John Groves says:

Foster is a superb, underrated conductor! Singers love him and he seems to know how to treat the musicians he deals with in order to get the best results!! I have always been impressed whenever I have been lucky enough to have been present when he is in charge! Lucky Poles!

  • Max Grimm says:

Instead of “Maestro Waltz: US Veteran Lands Polish Orchestra”, didn’t you want to use a headline starting with “Polish Regression…”, or does the regression start at age 77?
