The Nederlandse Muziekprijs (Dutch Music Award) for 2017 is to be given to Maria Milstein, a member of a distinguished Russian family of musicians.

Past winners include Janine Jansen, Christianne Stotijn, Pieter Wispelwey and Jard Van Nes.

  • esfir ross says:

Nathan Milstein came from family of 12 children-there very many with this last name related to violinist

  • Warren says:

I do not think Maria Milstein is related to Nathan Milstein, despite rumors that they are.

  • Melisande says:

Certainly well-earned prize for the remarkable violinist Maria Milstein. Congrutalations.
As her sister Nathalie Milstein already explained on this site in 2015: the Milstein family, living in the Netherlands, is not related to the violinist Nathan Milstein, but they are descendants from grandfather Yakov Milstein, a famous Russian musicologist.
Milstein is a surname that often can be found in Russia.
