Death of a clarinet legend, 77
mainEduard Brunner, a Swiss international soloist who was for thirty years principal clarinet of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, has died in Munich.
Many composers wrote for him, among them Edison Denisov, Helmut Lachenmann and Isang Yun.
He was certainly influential but this video clip is just awful.
His name was Eduard Brunner and he left his body in Munich/ Germany.
Great loss. Eduard Brunner produced a big sound and his amazing technique made even horrible deconstructive avangarde sonic art interesting, yes rather humorous (I remember when he played a Lachermann solo where blowing in every orifice in a clarinet, one can say that his ‘interpretation’ was surely ‘better than the real thing’).
