Mirga’s first recording?

ECM are releasing a set of Mieczysław Weinberg chamber symphonies with Gidon Kremer and friends, recorded in Vienna and Riga in June 2015.

The conductor is Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, music director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

We think this may be her record debut.

  • Her record debut is from Salzburger Festspiele (2012): Bernstein Serenade nach Platons Symposion – Mozart Symphonie C-Dur “Jupiter”, Dan Zhu, Camerata Salzburg. Not available at the moment.

  • Found inconsistency in M.Weinberg bio on wikipedia. It claim that MW studied during WWII with D.Shostakovich in Tashkent. Uzbekistan. D.Shostakovich wasn’t in Tashkent than. MW studied with Vasily Zolatoruov, a prominent Russian composer and violin teacher.
