A town’s monument to its violin makers

The small Czech town of Luby, formerly Schönbach, was once known as the Austrian Cremona.

It has a 400 year history of violin making.

  • that area came only 1804 under the Austrian crown. Until then it was part of the so called ‘Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation”.
    So when the article claims it was called the Austrian Cremona in the 17th century, then that’s wrong.
