Surely it could have been done without the darling dancers ?
Why cancel the whole performance ?
Because then you’re a scab! Don’t cross the picket line.
Because opera is actually more than just the notes 😉
Meistersinger has some of the most complex crowd scenes in the operatic repertoire, and movement performers make or break these scenes. In the cathedral… in the street late at night… and of course, the celebration of the Song Festival, in the last act.
It’s not just a load of old cobblers 😉
Indeed. I find it sounds exactly the same even without the dancers. Go ahead without them.
Nicola, you must be joking! It’s more than a bunch of ballet dancers – ha, ha 🙂
Les Nuls (spoofers) had once noticed : “The Paris Opera has published a work warning” (when everywhere else people usually publish a strike warning)….
I agree with Fanny: it’s horrifying how principles go out of the window when musical caprices are at stake!
