  • I assume that Aaliyah is a transliteration of עֲלִיָּה. Given that Ms Jenkins’s husband, the child’s father, is Jewish, I don’t suppose that this is as odd a name as it sounds, though I am not sure whether it is commonly used as a name by Jewish people. I’m afraid I had no idea that Ms Jenkins’s husband was called Mr Levitas until I consulted Wikipedia, so I had assumed that the child actually had the Latin word levitas as a forename. In fact, it is her surname. I am, however, mystified as to why anybody would call a child Reign.

  • Congratulations to the family! Mum would do well to concentrate on parenting and leave Carmen to the likes of Garanca and Gheorgiu!
