The film composer and conductor has pulled out of the festival with back pain. JW is 83. We wish him better.

Keith Lockhart takes over the evening.

Last year, Williams pulled a crowd of 18,000.

  • Tim says:

He probably stole the pain from another composer.

  • Christy says:

Hope he feels better soon… he keeps up an incredible schedule…

  • Daniel F. says:

On a related (Boston Symphony) subject, Norman L. seems somehow to have missed–unless I missed an issue of “Slipped Disc”–the death of the BSO’s legendary former principal timpanist, Everett “Vic” Firth, who died this past Sunday at 85. I hope he posts something in the near future.
