Keith Lockhart takes over the evening.

Last year, Williams pulled a crowd of 18,000.

  • On a related (Boston Symphony) subject, Norman L. seems somehow to have missed–unless I missed an issue of “Slipped Disc”–the death of the BSO’s legendary former principal timpanist, Everett “Vic” Firth, who died this past Sunday at 85. I hope he posts something in the near future.
